Second Passport

Second Passport Programs

Expand your options with a second citizenship. Increase travel freedom and reduce dependence on any single country.

Why Get a Second Passport?

  • Travel freedom — Access more countries visa-free
  • Plan B — Options if your home country becomes unstable
  • Banking — Some banks prefer certain citizenships
  • Business — Operate in more jurisdictions
  • Privacy — Diversify your identity across borders

Types of Programs

Citizenship by Investment (CBI)

Pay a significant sum (donation or investment) in exchange for immediate citizenship. Fastest option but expensive.

Examples: Vanuatu, St. Kitts & Nevis, Dominica, Grenada, Malta

Naturalization

Live in a country as a legal resident for several years, then apply for citizenship. Cheaper but slower.

Examples: Panama (5 years), Paraguay (3 years), Portugal (5 years), Colombia (5 years)

Citizenship by Descent

If your parents or grandparents were citizens of certain countries, you may be eligible for citizenship by descent.

Examples: Ireland, Italy, Poland, Hungary

Considerations

  • Dual citizenship rules — Does your current country allow it?
  • Tax implications — Some citizenships come with tax obligations
  • Renunciation — Some CBI programs face scrutiny; research carefully
  • Legitimacy — Work with reputable agents and lawyers
