If you already have a US LLC, getting an ITIN is usually a straightforward process. We've been doing this for a long time and work with an excellent Certifying Acceptance Agent (CAA). Right now, most ITIN applications take about 8 to 11 weeks.

What we need from you

To get started, send us the following:

  • A passport scan with all edges visible, using a flatbed scanner
  • Your US LLC formation documents, such as the Articles of Organization or Certificate of Organization
  • Your US LLC ownership documents, such as the Statement of Organizer, Initial Resolution, or Operating Agreement
  • Your EIN documents, such as the CP575, 147C, or SS-4 confirmation
  • A non-US residential address

Your non-US residential address is only used for the ITIN application. No mail will ever be sent there, no verification is required, and it does not appear on the final ITIN document.

How the process works

  1. You send us the required documents.
  2. We check everything before anything gets filed.
  3. We prepare the application documents and send them to you.
  4. You print them, sign them with a blue pen, and scan the signed pages.
  5. We submit the application to the IRS.
  6. The IRS sends the ITIN letter to a US address.
  7. We scan the ITIN document and send you the scanned copy.

That scanned copy is accepted everywhere in practice.

The most annoying part for most clients is just finding a place to scan the signed pages.

Who this is for

This service is a good fit if you:

  • Already have a US LLC
  • Need an ITIN for tax compliance
  • Want cleaner handling of Form 5472 and related filings
  • Need an ITIN for banking, payment processors, or other admin requirements

What is an ITIN?

An ITIN (Individual Taxpayer Identification Number) is a tax processing number issued by the IRS for individuals who need a US taxpayer ID but are not eligible for a Social Security Number (SSN).

Think of it as a personal tax ID for foreign nationals. It's a 9-digit number that always begins with 9.

Why get an ITIN?

An ITIN is not required to form an LLC or get an EIN, but it opens doors that are otherwise closed to non-residents:

  • Banking access — many US banks are more willing to open accounts when you have an ITIN.
  • Payment processors — PayPal and similar services require an SSN or ITIN for US business accounts.
  • Form 5472 filing — having an ITIN simplifies the process and avoids unnecessary IRS correspondence.
  • US tax compliance — if you have US-source income or need to file a US tax return, an ITIN is required.
  • Credit history — an ITIN lets you start building a US credit history, useful for business financing down the road.

Price and timeline

Price: $350 one-time fee

Current timeline: about 8 to 11 weeks

There is no expedited option with the IRS. The value of our service is getting the application right the first time so you don't face a rejection that restarts the clock.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to send my original passport to the IRS?

No. We work with a Certifying Acceptance Agent (CAA), so you don't need to mail your original passport. You send us a scan with all edges visible (a flatbed scanner works best) and we handle the rest.

Why do you ask for a non-US residential address?

The IRS requires a non-US residential address on the W-7 form. We only use it for the application — no mail is ever sent there, no verification is required, and it does not appear on the final ITIN document.

Where does the ITIN letter get sent?

The IRS sends the ITIN letter to a US address. We receive it, scan it, and send you the scanned copy. That scanned copy is accepted everywhere in practice.

Do I need an ITIN to form an LLC or get an EIN?

No. You can form an LLC and get an EIN without an ITIN. An ITIN is a personal tax ID, while an EIN is a business tax ID — they serve different purposes.

Can I apply for an ITIN alongside my Form 5472?

Yes, and this is often the most efficient approach. When you file your annual Form 5472 with a pro forma 1120, you can attach Form W-7 to apply for an ITIN at the same time.

Will my ITIN expire?

ITINs that haven't been used on a federal tax return at least once in the last three consecutive tax years will expire. If your ITIN expires, you can apply to renew it.
